5 Ways to Green Your Home the DIY Way

If you have wondered what it would take to live in a home with the smallest impact on the environment, your mind was probably drawn to experimental construction design and other high-tech solutions.  However, it takes much less to make a home greener.  Homeowners who want to take the initiative and handle things the Do-It-Yourself way will find that greening a home isn’t all that complicated.  Here are 5 ways to get it done without spending a fortune and hiring crews to help.

1. Replace all incandescent light bulbs.  On the list of ways to green a home, no effort can be simpler than changing the light bulbs.  The classic incandescent bulbs draw on far more energy than fluorescent alternatives.  Drawing on more energy means more out of your pocket in power bills every month, while the life of the incandescent bulbs is much shorter than fluorescents.  In a single afternoon, a homeowner can purchase new bulbs and replace the old ones, finding a greener home upon the project’s completion.

2. Apply the same principle to appliances.  If energy consumption is one of the main targets for homeowners trying to go green, then appliances deserve a long look.  About 1/5 of an entire energy bill may be attributed to power used by a home’s appliances.  Old stoves and refrigerators will consume significantly higher amounts of energy than modern, energy-smart alternatives.  With a little research, a homeowner can find a much better solution for the environment and energy costs.

3. Attack the biggest energy consumer.  Heating and cooling systems are an even bigger energy drain than appliances and lighting combined.  Over 50% of your annual energy costs can be attributed to these systems.  While replacing old and inefficient furnaces should be on the short-term to-do list, for the quick DIY fix, a homeowner can simply change the filters more often and opt for fans instead of A/C when not in the middle of summer.  These small adjustments make a real difference in energy consumption.

4. Cut down on water consumption.  While replacing a toilet may be more than a homeowner can handle, reducing the amount of water a toilet flushes is simple and will make a huge difference in terms of water consumption.  Another easy way to use less water is to add an aerator to all home faucets.  While it may seem like such a move could never have a big impact overall, experts estimate it can actually help homeowners use half the water they would with the normal setup.

5. Remodel and maintain the green way.  One of the best ways for a homeowner to get involved and help make a home more beautiful is to add a coat of paint to a room or the home’s exterior.  The choice in paint can be the difference between a home being green and a home having ill effects on the environment.  Opt for paint with little to no VOC content.  In addition, while keeping a home clean, pay attention to the chemicals present in traditional cleaners.  There are alternatives with far less of an environmental impact.

Elenco Hydro Lab Greenhouse System Review

I am just one of the hopeless environmentalists in our family, and maybe in the whole wide world; but who cares? I love dreaming up ways to help nature, and most importantly, I love people and our future together. That's why when I first come to see the Elenco EDU-8740 Hydro Lab.

Greenhouse System I think to myself, 'this is what I need!' I am going to put it somewhere in the house and have my nephews and nieces, who are always in our house, come along for a grand tour. And I did just that! Now, every little kid in the family knows about the greenhouse system and its effect to the world we live in. With that, I think I have inculcated in their minds the important things that a kid should know about the environment. That way, I can expect that they will grow as earth loving people.

Packing Houses

The packing house has been constructed according to the international standards. Its area is 4.700 m2 and can pack a production of 100 ha greenhouses.

Structure The packing structure is done from galvanized iron. The galvanized iron has the big advantage of preventing corrosion, particularly in humid zones. The corrosive material can drop on the fruits and eliminate them for exportation. The packing house is ventilated well and isolated by isolating material, in order to maintain low and uniform temperatures. The doors are electrical. The sides and the roof of the packing house are covered by galvanized "Ascorit" material that is painted in white color for reflect the radiation excess.
